We are both fans of natural makeup, easily sold on clean products, eco-friendly packaging and a look that appears effortless and barely there. Sometimes makeup trials can be transformative, in a less than ideal way, creating a rather unrecognisable version of ourselves. For those who want a natural look, hear more from our featured wedding makeup artist Sarah Morten. Read on for Sarah’s insights into natural wedding makeup! (Her work speaks for itself).
Sarah Morten Wedding Makeup – The Natural Trend
As many might be aware, natural makeup and beauty products are becoming super popular, with celebrities and fashion models helping to set a greener and cleaner trend. There are a huge range of fashion forward products that are free from toxins, cruelty and pollutants, resulting in happier skin for us and a better environment for all. Indeed, such products are easily available. Sarah does her research to find natural, ethical and eco-friendly products. Lucky for us, she is sharing some of her secrets…
Why switch to natural beauty products?
As Sarah reminds us, there are many reasons to switch. She says: “Both your health and our loved and precious environment will benefit from the switch to natural ingredients. Non-natural products contain toxins, including parabens, which are chemicals that are absorbed into the bloodstream and can effect the body’s natural function and cause serious health issues. So that is certainly not a brucey bonus for us but then… These toxic chemicals get into our water systems when we wash, building up in our eco system through rivers and waterways, harming the environment and animal habitats. Double trouble if you ask me. You wouldn’t want to eat these chemicals so why do we put them on your skin?”
What are the benefits?
Sarah tells us there are lots! “Natural products can keep our skin smiling, feeding it with vitamins, enzymes, nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and healing properties. So looking after our skin whilst wearing makeup is surly a win win? Many ingredients that are included in natural skin care and makeup have been used for centuries, developed from ancient natural remedies that have been known for their incredible benefits for the skin. Who doesn’t want to be in touch with our ancestors? How amazing that their findings in nature have benefited us, we thank them for all their hard work!”
What are the best natural makeup products?
I have been a hair and makeup artist for 10 years now and as my beliefs and lifestyle changed to a more eco-conscious and clean way of living, I realised it was time to reflect this into my work. I have spent the last 2 years changing all my makeup and hair kit over to natural alternatives. After hours of commitment to research (reading, testing and investigating!) I am so happy with the range I use and the quality of the products. I offer a 1-2-1 makeup lesson that is focused on natural, organic and cruelty free
products, teaching you makeup application and product knowledge.
Here are a few of my favourite makeup products out there…
Living Luminizer from RMS Beauty – This is one of my all time favourites. You can add it anywhere and everywhere! I love to add it to the inner eye to create glow and it works a treat to perk up a cheekbone. You can also add it to the collar bone and shoulders and wait for that light to catch you.
Avocado Waterproof Mascara from Ere Perez – I use this on all my brides. The only Natural Waterproof mascara I have found to work well and a good waterproof is a must for wedding days as you never know where those emotions will take you!
Last but not least! Volumizing Mascara from Green People – Organic and truly volumizing, I wear this mascara most days. It is super gentle on the eyes and has a conditioning formula of Vitamin E and natural plant oils.
A huge thanks and lots of appreciation to Sarah for directing us towards the greener path of natural makeup. Drop her a line via our website to find out more about ‘going natural’ with Sarah Morten wedding makeup!
