Nothing says stately fairytale more than getting married in a castle! This is the love story of Ash and Dougie who said ‘I do’ with class and style at one of the North West’s most desirable wedding venues: Peckforton Castle!

The Proposal!

Dougie popped the big question in the couples favourite spot; a beautiful garden in Leicestershire on Christmas Eve. With wooden signs that led Ash down the garden path so to speak, and handwritten notes about why he loved her (someone pass the tissues!), Ash ended up at a marquee full of candles. Waiting there was Dougie, down on one knee with an engagement ring.

Their Peckforton Castle Wedding Vision!

The couple wanted a romantic, simple and classy wedding. They loved the idea of a black tie affair where people could dress in their very best.

For their special day, the couple chose Peckforton Castle. They are fans of old buildings, and, in the words of Ash, ” You can’t get much older than a castle!” They fell in love with the tall ceilings, beautiful alcoves  and atmospheric architecture. The drive up to the castle itself was really important to Ash, and she couldn’t have been  more impressed. In short, the venue blew the couple away – “it just couldn’t be topped!”peckforton castle weddingpeckorton castle wedding

The Wedding Dress!

Ash really wanted an elegant wedding dress. She loves Spanish designers and Pronovias was her ultimate bridal gown goal! After a long hunt, Ash found ‘the one’ at the Knutsford Wedding Gallery. Ash describes the boutique as “beautiful”.

Ash chose the Nuria dress: a striking crepe gown with long sleeves, a dramatic split and bateau neckline. We love its simplicity and ADORE the feature feather sleeves.

Hair and Makeup

Thembi Mkandla can be credited for Ash’s beautiful makeup. Thembi is a well renowned and respected beauty, fashion and media makeup artist. Ash wanted to look the best version of herself and for her makeup to last all day. Thembi definitely delivered and Ash was delighted with the end result.

Dawn at Creative Hair Kicks was responsible for Ash’s swishy and stylish ponytail. In the bride’s words, “Dawn was so much fun and she really listened to what I wanted…. a Hollywood glamour ponytail and not a typical wedding hair style.” We think it looks FAB!

The Suit!

Dougie had his suit tailor-made at one of How to I Do‘s featured suppliers Phillip Alexander in Wilmslow. He went for a monochrome three piece suit. Very 007! The couple tell us that they can’t recommend them highly enough.

Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Bridesmaids and Maid of Honour consisted of best friends from university and the bride’s sister respectively, who were all “amazing”. Groomsmen were a mixture of Dougie’s brothers and friends. The couple tell us that they always knew who would be their extra special guests, so this part was easy!
In keeping with their monochrome theme, the girls wore black dresses from Chi Chi London. The guys wore black suits also from Phillip Alexander with white shirts and black bowties.

Flowers and Décor!

Ash and Dougie enlisted vision and assistance of the award-winning (and hugely popular) Red Floral Architecture. They wanted to incorporate lots of whites and greenery into their flowers. We particularly love the interspersed berries.

The couple added their own special touches with splashes of gold. What gorgeously-golden cutlery and crockery!

The Food!

Peckforton Castle provided the catering. The couple gave it 10/10! They ate canapes, soup, lamb and finished with good ol’ apple crumble.
Ash’s sister made their spectacular wedding cake – a tower of cheese! We’re in LOVE!

The Music!

To create added ambience during the day the couple hired talented musician Craig Owen. They describe him as “amazing and perfect in every way!”

Hipswing provided a DJ and kept guests groovin’ all night long!

THE Photographer!

Beth Alderson took these fabulous shots! The couple describe her as “PHENOMENAL!” As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words…

The Best Bits?

Ash’s favourite moment from their picture-perfect Peckforton Castle wedding was walking down the aisle and seeing her husband moved to tears. They both treasure seeing all their loved ones together, smiling all around them!

Advice for Those Planning a Wedding?

“Try and save on costs as much as possible, because everything adds up so much. Cut costs on things that matter the least to you. Secondly, get married where you truly want to, because it really does mean the world on the day. Finally, don’t rush into choosing suppliers, take your time and research.”
