This time we turn our attention to Shannen and Dan who met at secondary school when they were just 11! Talk about a lifetime of devotion. Dan decided to pop the question in Venice. He even organised a private speed boat to take them to a beautiful hotel and restaurant, The Gritti Palace. How about that for a proposal?! After saying ‘YES!’, they began to plan their dream day at the beautiful Tyn Dwr Hall.
Black and white can look chic and super stylish. We should know and we LOVE it too. After all, one of our first Pinterest boards was exactly for this theme… With a bit of greenery it can certainly be warm and elegant too. We admire how Shannen and Dan deployed their monochrome scheme to ultra stylish effect!
The Dress of all Dresses!
Shannen found her dream dress at our amazing featured supplier, Along Came Eve in Chester. Shannen found it a lovely experience and describe owners Kendal and Moira as “absolutely incredible.” Shannen tells us: “I seriously can’t thank or recommend them enough. They helped me every step of the way, especially because I decided to make a big change to the back of the dress.” Shannen made the dress totally her own and looks stunning in it! We are big fans of the beaded detailing!
Shannen sourced her wedding shoes from Stuart Weitzman. She wore a pair of gorgeous oval diamond earrings to match her engagement ring for her wedding. A huge surprise gift from her (no doubt) adoring parents. Aww. She completed her look with a breathtaking full length veil.
Wedding Hair and Makeup
Katie Daley made Shannen both feel and look flawless on the day. Shannen opted for some serious glam with smokey eyes and luminous skin. Katie did a great job but we feel that she also had some wonderful genetics to work with!
Similarly, Bethany from hip Chorlton’s cool and glamorous The Vintage Beauty Parlour in Manchester created a vintage look to die for. Bethany specialises in vintage styles and gave Shannen some seriously swoon-worthy ‘Hollywood Waves’. What’s not to love?!
Groomswear and the Bridesmaid Dresses
The groom and his groomsmens’ attire was all from Moss Bros. Shannen and Dan gifted all the groomsman with gold cuff links personalised with their own initials. These came from The Engraved Gifts Company.
The bridesmaid dresses were made by a talented local lady who created these fine gowns from simply looking at a picture. The youngest bridesmaid wore a dress sourced on the high street.
The Wedding Party
Best friends, siblings and the nearest and dearest made up the wedding party. They were on best behaviour – we are told – and helped to make the day perfect.
The Wedding Venue: Tyn Dwr Hall, Llangollen
Shannen tells us that fate really brought this venue to them. First she saw it on Facebook, and it felt really familiar. Upon viewing it, she had a sense of deja vu and it turned out that she had been there years ago when it had a former life as a Youth Hostel. More amazing still, the building was formerly owned by the same university that both Shannen and Dan attended. With a new lease of life and those breathtaking views, Tyn Dwr Hall was a venue that was meant to be! The couple chose to have their wedding breakfast in the garden room. The venue’s stunning interiors generally otherwise spoke for themselves.
They adopted just a few floral enhancements. We love the top table’s flowing garland which spanned the whole length of the table. Lots of green foliage and bursting with hydrangeas was this couples floral theme. A big thank you to Chloe at White Wisteria for these amazing floral arrangements!
The Wedding Food and Cake!
How to I Do‘s featured supplier Wild Garlic Catering did a wonderful job of satisfying the wish-list of these self-confessed foodies. The couple opted for a BBQ in the day. In the evening, they brought their love of Indian food into their wedding with chicken tikka sandwiches! Yum!
Another of our wonderful suppliers, Rachel Hanna from the super-stylish Marie Antoinette Cakes, made this on-theme masterpiece. She also applied her hand to the favours too – sugar cookies that she personalised with initials S and D.
Hipswing Entertainment did an amazing job of creating fun and laughter and memories for their happy ever after…
These statement shots are the work of the creative Charlotte Giddings Photography. Charlotte has captured every ounce of magic of this couple’s special day.
Dan’s favourite memory is of seeing Shannen walk down the aisle. Shannen cherishes the memory of them saying their vows. Both agree that the best piece of wedding planning advice would be not to stress about it. In their words: “It all comes together in the end and you will have the best day no matter what happens.”
So thank you to Shannen and Dan for sharing their monochrome magical day with us.
