After all, it was the humble pumpkin that allowed Cinderella to go to the ball. Oh, and a little bit of magic…!
Welcome to our latest, and very seasonal blog, full of ideas for a Halloween themed wedding or for those who want to simply nod to the time of year!
Halloween Themed Wedding Inspo! 5 Great Reasons to Celebrate the Season!
1. Venue Availability!
Let’s face it: venue availability is usually less frantic in Autumn. See if you can get a date booked at your ideal venue, and you might grab yourself a bargain! October also brings changing colours to add beauty to your backdrop, and you might be in luck with the weather too!
2. Pumpkin Décor Galore!
These versatile orange spheres can be used as candle holders, carved with personal messages by the truly talented, and of course lit with tealights for when the daylight fades for a romantic and rustic effect. We have also seen them painted and made into a wedding cards box (though please remember to line the inside or your wedding cards might look a little composted)!
3. Halloween Eats and Treats!
Pumpkins might not form part of the regular UK diet, and we recognise that pumpkin stew and pie might be a less popular choice for the wedding breakfast – even if they are highly nutritious, excellent value and highly seasonal! With hopefully zero air miles, pumpkins could make a delicious vegan or vegetarian option – and an alternative to butternut squash!
As for the cake, from a Tim Burton inspired gothic tower to skulls and red icing, or even ghoulish cupcakes, the choice is yours!
4. Have fun with Halloween Fashion and Makeup!
From full-on fancy dress to gothic accents, this is a great time to be bold and have fun with accessories and makeup. Stripy tights and hobnail boots anyone? Gothic hair-wear? From a ghoulish garter to a stylish burnt orange bow tie, there are so many ways to shout Autumnal-awesome.
Bit much for the wedding day? Hmmmmm….
5. Fancy Favours and an Eco Guest Book!
Even the most traditional of us can embrace the season in all its glory, with fun Halloween favours! We are thinking orange and black macarons, jars of sweets containing edible creepy crawlies, or even black toffee apples.
As for the guest book, how about collecting the biggest and most gorgeous leaves you can find and allowing guests to write a note and pin it, post it or stick it? For the eco and budget conscious this is an excellent opportunity for that walk in the woods!
So on that note, Happy Halloween! Enjoy all the fun to be had at this ghoulishly-great time of year!
