At How to I Do we LOVE Liverpool! As well as being a vibrant and multicultural city, one of us has fond university memories of L1 and beyond (the less said the better!). Here we have the story of Lauren and Laura and their Liverpool ‘I do’s’ at the stunning 30 James Street wedding venue. Their names add to the sound that it was always meant to be. Their no-nonsense attitude makes them women we admire. Lauren tells us that the engagement occurred in Mexico: “Laura sort of just stood there, engagement ring in hand and blurted out, ‘Do you want to get married?’ Clearly nerves got the better of her!” Honest, real, getting on with the job – we like these ladies! Read on for Liverpool love and wedding inspo with heartwarming touches.

The Wedding Vision

These ladies had different ideas for their wedding – initially. Lauren wanted something small and remote. Laura wanted a big, extravagant family wedding in the heart of the city. Laura won, but no regrets – this wedding was awesome!

The Wedding Dresses

Lauren tells us that she found her dress at Natalie Ann Brides, Liverpool. Her mum found it first – a fully beaded MoriLee dress with fishtail. Laura went straight to a local designer, Kirsty Doyle to create her fantastic outfit. Together they came up with high-waisted trousers and top that gave the impression of a jumpsuit. Laura managed to get a cape attached too – amazing! There’s definitely something ‘Superwoman’ about this!

Accessorise It!

Lauren was very Carrie Bradshaw and chose her shoes before the dress – cobalt blue Ted Baker heels. Laura wore a beautiful hairpiece by Katie Mangan Millinery, another Liverpool based Designer. Laura’s parents also gave her a custom-made bouquet charm with an image of her late nan and grandad on their wedding day in it.

The Wedding Party

It was easy for Lauren to choose her Maid of Honour – her cousin and best friend Ruth. Laura had her best friend Ryan as her Best Man, another easy decision we are told; “The 4 of us come as a package deal!” Outfits for these special people were found on the high street, plus a hairpiece by Katie Mangan Millinery and the Best Man’s tie and pocket square from Swagger and Swoon.

The Venue – 30 James Street

The couple had the whole day at 30 James Street hotel, Liverpool. They report that as soon as they entered its Grand Hall, they knew that they had to book. With such opulence all around, they did not need to do much to the décor at all. They simply had some centrepieces by White Events which were perfect and did not overshadow the fantastic room.

The venue also took charge of the food. This comprised of a ‘walking buffet’ during the evening, with mini hotdogs, mini burgers, plus fish and chips in cones. We hear that the bacon butties at midnight went down a treat with everyone.

Let’s Talk Flowers!

Heather Feather took charge of the flowers. Amazingly she created two different styles with the same flowers. Lauren wanted a neat and simple bouquet with some blush tones. Laura wanted hers to be a bit bigger and wilder looking and so had extra foliage and a teardrop shape.

Makeup and Hair

To add to the potential Laura and Lauren name confusion, they used the talented Laura from The Makeup Co. She created natural looks that lasted the day. The couple’s friend, hairdresser Becky, wowed with her hair talent. Laura wanted her hair down and bouncy whereas Lauren opted for a relaxed up do.

The Photographer

Or in this case, photographers! The couple chose the wonderful Lee and Karen at Willo Photography, one of How to I Do’s own. Enough said.

The Entertainment

A band ‘Frankie’s Guys’ and a DJ made it a party to remember. Their first dance was to True by ‘Digital Farm Animals – they didn’t want a slow dance!

Instead of wedding favours, to maximise comfort for their dancing guests the couple bought 100 pairs of flipflops! No excuses not to be on the dance floor at this wedding!

The Cake

Millie’s Cupcakes made the couple a gorgeous wedding cake, capturing all the love, to the moon and back…

The Best Bits?

Lauren and Laura agree that being announced as Mrs & Mrs at the wedding breakfast was most memorable and they decided to have the song ‘I Kissed a Girl’ by Katy Perry for their entrance! They treasure memories of their family and friends laughing and dancing.

Thank you!

Thanks go out to Lauren and Laura for sharing their fabulous 30 James Street wedding with us. A truly magnificent day. Wishing them all the Liverpool love imaginable.
